The Northern California Ferret Alliance is a organization dedicated to the domestic ferret and the people who love them. The NCFA provides education to the local community regarding ferret care, health concerns and current legalization issues, support and social events for local ferret enthusiasts as well as fund raising for ferret rescue organizations. You do not need to have a ferret to participate and membership is confidential.
Before June of 2008 if you lived in the San Francisco bay area and wanted to attend a local ferret club meeting you had two choices either the Northern California Ferret Alliance meetings in Concord or the Golden State Ferret Society metings in Hayward. After some time it became apparent to the officers of the Northern California Ferret Alliance that another meeting was needed in the bay area, specifically in San Francisco. While in theory San Francisco is not that far from either Concord or Hayward with daily commute traffic it is just too dificult. After some initial market research was conducted the Northern California Ferret Alliance decided to start a San Francisco chapter and made the official announcement last year at the 2008 annual Ferrets Anonymous Roundup which was held in April in Pittsburg, Ca. The San Francisco meetings started in June of 2008. To much surprise the meetings have been full every month. Not only do we have San Francisco residents at the meeting but it is also convienent for residents of Marin County and the Santa Rosa area to get to.
